My deepest compassion for all touched by the Norway massacre

In every moment since last Friday my heart goes out to the victims – survivors and deceased – of the Norway massacre and bomb attack, and I lack the words to express how deep my compassion with them, their families and their friends are.

My compassion with the perpetrator Anders also runs deep – such a lost person, so full of fear and hate, so alone.

To those who like Anders believe that people of other creeds and ideologies are hateful and dangerous, particularly to those who consider using violence to make their point or achieve their goals, I would like to say – I hope that this event has become a reason for you to think again.

Shall I not inform you of a better act than fasting, alms, and prayers?
Making peace between one another: enmity and malice tear up heavenly rewards by the roots.

Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God.
